What is Reiki + Sound Healing?

Reiki is actually a combination of two Japanese words: Rei “universal” or “higher knowledge” and Ki “life force energy”. It is a Japanese healing technique and a complementary energy therapy based on the principle that the universe consists of energy that flows through all living beings. Disruption to this energy can cause “dis-ease” in the body, mind and spirit. Reiki is a natural form of therapy that uses a non-invasive hovering of hands over the body’s major energy centers (Chakras) to restore balance to one’s energy flow. This universal life force energy is guided by its own wisdom rather than the hands of the practitioner. Reiki works with the body’s own energy to promote self-healing, allowing life force energy to flow in a healthy and natural way. Sound Healing is an ancient practice that calls upon the use of musical tools (Himalayan bowls, crystal bowls, gongs, & chimes, for example) to create healing vibrations around and through the body. The vibrations from the Sound Healing instruments assist in activating the parasympathetic or “rest and digest” portion of the nervous system; soothing stress and easing one into a meditative state. It is in this state that healing takes place. Reiki and Sound Healing are a powerful combination for providing deep relaxation, correcting energetic imbalances, resolving emotional distress and increasing the feeling of overall well-being.
